About Wedge
Most businesses create content that builds nothing. We help you find what makes you different and turn it into marketing that actually works.

About Wedge
We started Wedge because we were tired of watching brilliant people struggle with the same broken marketing cycle.
Talented agency founders competing on price because they couldn't articulate their strategic value. Smart marketing leaders writing strategies that teams never used. Growth-stage founders with incredible expertise that never translated into market recognition.
The problem wasn't their work - it was the gap between who they really were and how they showed up in the market.
Most marketing approaches treat strategy and execution as separate problems. You get beautiful brand documents that sit on shelves, or tactical work that builds nothing lasting. We believe the magic happens in the connection between the two.
That's why we created Wedge - a brand marketing system that helps you figure out what makes you uniquely worth talking about, then translates that foundation into marketing that actually works in the real world.
We're not here to give you more marketing tactics or another strategy document. We're here to help you build the strategic foundation that makes everything else work better - whether you're pitching clients, creating content, or trying to carve out space in a crowded market.
Because when you know what makes you different and can communicate it consistently, everything changes. Clients stop shopping on price. Teams stop creating content landfill. Founders start building the industry recognition they deserve.
Marketing becomes less about fighting for attention and more about building something meaningful.
We bring the best of both worlds - Kim's in-house marketing expertise and Ryan's agency and product experience means we solve problems from both sides of the table.

About Kim Elizabeth James
Kim pitched her way into the first content marketing role for one of Australia’s biggest brands at 23. Over the next decade, she worked across corporate, government, and startups - from APAC Content Strategist for a global tech firm to Chief Customer Officer in Australian SaaS. She watched millions get spent on content strategies that looked impressive in presentations but struggled to translate into the day-to-day operations.
Kim believes she will never preach without practicing, so she built her own content strategy and proved it worked - going viral with 10+ million views in its first year by being authentically herself. Now she helps founders and marketing teams escape content landfill by creating content strategies that actually builds brand equity and reflects their unique positioning.
About Ryan Mitchell
Ryan became a full-time founder at 21, starting with an Office 365 migration service turned agency that he sold, moved to Queenstown and launched several more ventures . In 2023 he led engineering to build planit.co, where he now serves as strategic AI and product adviser. Through working with 30+ marketing agencies and founding three himself, he watched owners struggle to sell strategy despite wanting to move beyond execution.
Ryan discovered the concept of "wedge" through patterns he noticed in customer conversations, tested it by writing on SubStack, and proved it worked when his close rates improved and prospects started requesting it specifically. Now he helps agencies use wedge as a way to think, act and be strategic.
